Fedora 29: Install VirtualBox for virtualization

This article will describe installing VirtualBox.

1 Install VirtualBox

Update kernel.

$ sudo dnf update -y
$ sudo reboot

Install VirtualBox package. Fedora 29's rpm is not provided yet on 2018/12/13. This article will use Fedora 28's rpm.

$ sudo dnf group install -y "Development Tools"
$ sudo dnf install -y kernel-devel elfutils-libelf-devel
$ URL=http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/rpm/fedora/
$ cat <<EOF | sudo tee /etc/yum.repos.d/virtualbox.repo
[virtualbox]
name=VirtualBox
#baseurl=${URL}/\$releasever/\$basearch
baseurl=${URL}/28/\$basearch
gpgcheck=1
repogpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://www.virtualbox.org/download/oracle_vbox.asc
EOF
$ sudo dnf install -y VirtualBox-5.2

2 Run VirtualBox

Run virtualbox command.

$ virtualbox
