ArchLinux 2017.10.01: Install KDE for desktop environment

This article will describe installing KDE for desktop environment.

1 Install KDE

Install plasma group and lxdm.

$ sudo pacman -Sy --noconfirm plasma lxdm

Enable lxdm.service.

$ sudo systemctl enable lxdm

Set default session to KDE.

$ sudo sed -i /etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf \
     -e 's;^# session=/usr/bin/startlxde;session=/usr/bin/startkde;g'

Reboot system.

$ sudo reboot

2 Login to KDE desktop environment

Login screen is displayed. Login with your username and password.
